South Bend SB1083 24-1/2" Steady Rest

A steady rest is an accessory that helps support the weight of a long workpiece, keeping it securely in place while you turn it on a lathe. The SB1083 is made of strong cast iron and has three adjustable jaws that stabilize the workpiece.

Here’s what it does:

• Prevents bending: It stops thin or flexible pieces from bending while you're cutting or shaping them.
• Supports heavy cuts: It gives extra support to your workpiece, letting you take deeper cuts without causing damage.
• Helps with drilling and threading: It holds the piece steady for tasks such as drilling, boring, or cutting threads.

The best part? The top half of the rest can be moved out of the way, so you can easily swap out pieces without having to readjust the whole steady rest.

Plus, all three jaws have handy wheels for precise adjustments.

This 24-1/2" steady rest fits our entire line of South Bend Big Bore lathes and needs to be ordered at the time of lathe purchase, as it will be installed at the factory.
